The Outdoor Trips Instructor is responsible for the planning, implementing and leading the Outdoor Trips for campers on and off camp property. Trips include multi-day excursions of hiking, canoeing, and service activities.
This position requires the ability to supervise and lead groups of campers and staff. The incumbent must be 21 years of age or older and possess leadership skills that can assist in encouraging and motivating campers. The ability to teach songs, crafts, games, stories, sports, and related skills is preferred. Incumbent must show enthusiasm, dedication, responsibility and maturity and have the ability to interact and communicate clearly with campers, parents and staff. Bachelor’s of the Arts of Bachelor’s of Science in Recreation, Physical Education, Education or related field is preferred (or working toward degree). Incumbent must have valid Wilderness First Aid, CPR/First Aid, Lifeguarding certification, and ACA Canoeing Instructor Certification. If necessary, training will be provided

- Prepare, organize, and implement all aspects of the Outdoor trip program and is responsible for the general safety and supervision of campers in program.
- Educate campers in the various responsibilities/skills of program: camping, cooking, and safety equipment; canoeing, climbing, backpacking, etc.
- Supervise and participate in all assigned aspects of the campers’ day which includes but is not limited to: Camper check-in and check-out; meal times; activities; backpacking, canoeing, climbing, swimming, rafting; and before/after hours duties as assigned.
- Attend and participate in two weeks of Administration Staff Training and General Staff Training.
